Protect Against Incomplete Cures with Encompass Technology

Encompass® Adhesive Technology

Encompass® Technology for Cure Verification & Inspection

Dymax understands the pressure placed on manufacturers to keep pace with changing technologies in industries like medical device assembly, consumer electronics design, and aerospace and defense. Routine manufacturing procedures such as adhesive cure confirmation and post-cure bond-line inspection not only consume precious time but can leave room for error, jeopardizing efficiency and safety.

To combat these risks, we have developed a new approach to light-curing: Encompass® Technology which combines Dymax patented See-Cure color-change and Ultra-Red® fluorescing technologies into one light-curable product.

Uncured adhesives formulated with See-Cure technology are bright blue in color for easy verification of placement. As the product cures with sufficient exposure to UV light, its blue color transitions to colorless or a different color, like pink, and provides obvious visual confirmation that the adhesive is fully cured and the bond site secure. As a result, manufacturers gain efficiencies from rapid, on-demand curing with easy cure confirmation and post-cure bond-line inspection.

Dymax patented See-Cure technology enables easy visual cure confirmation.

Products with Ultra-Red technology fluoresce bright red under low-intensity black light (365 nm), contrasting extremely well on plastics that naturally fluoresce blue in color (like PVC). This allows manufacturers to incorporate automated or manual quality inspection to verify the complete and accurate placement of the adhesive after curing.

Currently, there are several adhesives available with Encompass Technology for medical device manufacturing. Dymax R&D is working on additional formulations for use in electronic, aerospace, and industrial applications.

Together, See-Cure and Ultra-Red technologies power Encompass, aiding manufacturers before, during, and after light curing, helping them meet stringent guidelines and deadlines, and improving the speed, efficiency, and accuracy of their assembly process.
